Surf blond bombshell Mandy Moo, screeches “Get out of My way “ on Dirty Liars latest EP “Cartoon Killer” produced by Aria winner Bryce Moorehead . Celebrating all that is fast, dirty, and mostly forgotten with a twisted sexy punk rock quirk, Dirty Liars draw listeners onto their white knuckle ride through the back alleys where bad was born.
Seeking post Thatcher punk rock revenge, Ian McDirt, ex pat Glaswegian punk guitarist, searched for a band that eventually lead him to Mandy Moo, Brisbane beach bunny from all girl glam rockers “Chick Flick,”
Sharing a passion for obscure garage music from yesterdays mean streets, Ian and Mandy find themselves kicking out the jams with Ben Wood on drums who was both the obvious, and natural choice. Being a regular, turning up at all the same gigs as Mandy and Ian, it was Ben who suggested there could be no other choice for a bass player than his mate Clint (Eastwood) Mahoney as Clint and Ben have not only spewed punk rock rhythms together since school, their bond is so superglue tight Ben bears the grudgeless wounds to this day where Clint shot him with a gun “by accident”. They gel as only Aussies and Scots standing up to be counted do, sonicaly unashamed and relentlessly giving it.
Their first release “Rockstar” was well received by the local media and became a title track for surfing video “Xpress yourself. Their hell bent pursuit of nirvana and blind determination is what resonated with producer Shagga’s search for, “the classic sonic and visual high you gloriously get sometimes when garage punk and surf collide together”
Bryce Moorehead took that garage punk band sound to produce their 2nd EP “What Ya Got Punk” . It quickly sold out from shows up and down the East coast of Australia opening for Painters and Dockers, and The Radiators.
The video of the title track “Arabody” catches their determined spirit and excitement of their live performance vey well, according to Alex Oliver from Brisbane’s 4ZZZ , ‘its sexy, nasty and very very rock’n’roll,”
Influenced by an insurmountable amount of bands from; late sixties American Garage, Mid seventies proto punk and late seventies UK, NYC glam and punk, they sit well with seasoned and new gig goers alike. Dirty Liars are for those looking for the dirt and excitement that pumps through the punk rock veins of Rock N Roll itself.
